Jeanie Kirk
Jeanie Kirk is a nonprofit strategist, fundraiser, and creative entrepreneur with 15 years of experience supporting organizations working at the intersections of environmental conservation, social justice, higher education in prison, and reproductive rights. She has partnered with both national and community-based organizations to strengthen fundraising systems, develop compelling narratives, and secure the resources needed for mission-driven work to thrive.
Jeanie began her career with The Nature Conservancy before moving to Portland, OR, where she joined Julep Consulting to support environmental and social justice groups in New Orleans during periods of community rebuilding and grassroots mobilization. She later served as the Grants Officer at the Prison University Project (now Mount Tamalpais College), advancing one of the country’s most respected higher-education-in-prison programs through key phases of growth and organizational development. Across her consulting practice, Jeanie works with movement-aligned organizations to refine strategy, build relationships, and mobilize public and private resources with transparency and intention.
In 2019, Jeanie co-founded MADRE Linen, a home goods brand grounded in color, ritual, and collective nourishment. Building a feminist, values-driven company centered on care and interdependence deepened her commitment to integrity and collaborative practices that honor people and planet. A lifelong reader who came to writing as both a skill and a compass, Jeanie uses narrative to help dismantle philanthropic gatekeeping and support organizations in accessing the relationships, resources, and influence needed to advance their work.
Originally from Massachusetts and now based in Portland, Oregon, Jeanie is a mother of two who finds joy in community, celebration, and the outdoors. She loves hiking, skiing, cooking, and feeding the people she loves—and draws inspiration from the everyday rituals that nurture connection, resilience, and a more generous world.
