Katie Lorah
Katie Lorah is a nonprofit communications and organizational strategy professional working at the intersection of civic life and the built environment. She’s spent the past 20+ years helping build organizations that are making our cities greener, safer, healthier and more equitable. Most recently, she served as Senior Advisor for Public Affairs with Transportation Alternatives, New York City’s advocate for better walking, biking and public transit. She’s led organizational strategy and marketing for ioby, a national civic tech and movement-building platform; communications for the NYC public space nonprofit Friends of the High Line; and was as a senior parks planner with New York City Parks. In addition to her work with Julep, she works with Main Street America, a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, to support economic development in thousands of downtown districts nationwide.
Katie holds a master’s in urban planning from MIT and bachelor’s from NYU. She lives in Seattle, where she serves on her local parks advisory board. She’s the founder of Urbanist Shoreline, a local advocacy and civic education group focused on affordable housing, transportation, and public space.
